Jeremy John Wade born 5 May 1960 is a British biologist, television presenter, extreme angler and writer specializing in travel and natural history. He is best known for his television series River Monsters, produced by Icon Films. He holds a special interest in freshwater and has been traveling around the world fishing for giant freshwater fish. Jeremy Wade was brought up in rural Suffolk, England, UK, where his father was a vicar.
He says he taught himself how to be a writer and has published articles on poaching, fair trade, and travel in newspapers and magazines; he is now a TV personality. In order to further pursue his career as a fisherman, Wade made his first trip to India in 1982. Other trips of Wade's include traveling to the Congo River and South America. He is currently ranked as the world's number one angler by Angling News.
