In his early life, the 21 year old live spent his first four years in Egypt, where he learnt to speak Arabic before learning English. The young MGK and his parents then moved to Germany, Chicago, LA, Denver and Ohio.
From the age of four, MGK – who gained his stage name because of his ‘rapid-fire lyrical flow’- took a liking to rap music. At the age of nineteen, MGK went to Harlem’s Apollo Theatre where he had back-to back victories, making him the first rapper to ever win at the Apollo Theatre. The young hip-hop rapper had his first taste of fame on MTV2’s Sucker Freestyle, where he performed versus from his material called, Chip Off The Block.
